Senator Menendez,

This letter is to kindly invite you to attend our “II Encuentro de Peruanos Exitosos Residentes en el Exterior: Premio Orgullo Peruano 2009” (Second Award of Successful Peruvians Living Abroad: 2009 Peruvian Pride Award) as a recipient of our, 2009 Special Recognition Award, for your great humanitarian work with the Hispanic community in Paterson, New Jersey, where we have the higher number of Peruvian restaurants and other business in the state of New Jersey. This event will take place on October 17/18, 2009, in the J.W. Marriot Hotel of Lima.

In support of the Dia Conmemorativo al Peruano Residente en el Exterior (Commemorative Day to the Peruvians that Live Abroad), that we celebrate every October 18, since 2006, the Peruvian NGO Anna Lindh, with the support of the Peruvian Ministry of External Relations, organizes this event in order to promote the good practices and to integrate the Peruvians that live abroad, with the purpose of improving our country’s image in foreign countries.

We will have different activities as part of this event, among them, a Gala Night, where each participant to the “Premio Orgullo Peruano 2009” will receive an award for his/her effort and accomplishments achieved abroad. This award has five categories and this year will be received by 30 Peruvians. These categories are: Achiever Peruvian, Successful Peruvian Family, Successful Professional, Successful Peruvian Company or Association, and Non-Peruvian supporting Peruvians Abroad. Also, a Special Recognition will be awarded to a person that had succeeded in cultural, sportive or social issues during this year.

We would be honored if you would be able to accept this award, which will elevate the standards of this year’s event. If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me at my E-mail: orgulloperuano2009@orgulloperuano.pe, or phone number (511) 717-6518 / 717-6519
